The purpose of this course is to inform workers of hazards specific to the Bakken Shale Play area. This 1-hour module discusses the Bakken Region, sources of oil extraction common to the Bakken Region, the properties and characteristics of Bakken oil, and hazards specific to the region.

Upon completion of the course, all students are issued a physical and digital PEC ID card with their name, company name, picture, barcode, and completed course.   • Identifying hazards specific to the Bakken region – an overview of hazards specific to the Bakken region
  • Person in charge (PIC) – roles and responsibilities around safety specific to the Bakken region
  • Tribal Employment Rights Office (TERO) and Mandan Hidatsa Arikara (MHA) Energy Compliance
  • Lone worker – how to practice safety awareness specific to the Bakken region
  • Driving safety – wildlife areas, weather, and winter/severe weather conditions
  • BTEX (Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, and Xylene)
  • Critical lifts – lift plans, approvals, and training required
  • Frac iron cold temps ratings
  • Compressed gas tanks
  • Working near flares
